The Red Hot Sunglasses Guide to the Valentino Brand

From working with his aunt as a schoolboy to overseeing the rise of one of Italy’s most prominent fashion houses, Italian born Valentino Garavani, better known simply as Valentino, has helped to define Italian style for over fifty years and is now recognised as one of the most important designers of his generation.

Valentino got his first big break in the '50s, working in apprenticeships in Paris for Jean Desses and Guy Laroche. But it wasn’t long before he retuned to his native Italy and, in 1962, he established his own company – Valentino. His designs drew immediate critical acclaim and a celebrity following that included the likes of Jacqui Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn.

From then until his retirement in 2008, Valentino’s designs enjoyed continual international acclaim, becoming famous for his signature use of red and the combination of simple black and white prints which celebrated the female form. Although Valentino himself is no longer designing, the Valentino brand continues to produce some of Italy’s finest designs, from womenswear to accessories, including sunglasses.

Our range of Valentino sunglasses includes several frames with the designer’s signature black and white prints. Many frames also feature exquisite floral and lace, which, when combined with their classical Italian elegance, creates a beauty that can only be described as Valentino-esque. Whether you are looking for Valentino wayfarer sunglasses or Valentino aviator sunglasses, we are sure to have the right pair for you.
