Turning their American dream into reality, engineers Jan Waszkiewicz and Stanley Zaleski founded Randolph Engineering in 1972. In the early days, the focus of the company was on the design and manufacture of optical tools and machinery for trade. But while the production of designer sunglasses was not yet considered, with a clear strategy of using the most advanced engineering principles to produce the highest quality products, the foundations of a successful eyewear brand were already in place.
The manufacture of specialist eyewear was initially a by-product of the company’s strong growth. But, in 1982, when the company became the US Department of Defence main contractor for military style aviation flight eyewear, the company’s focus changed for good. Over the next ten years, Randolph Engineering grew to become a leading supplier of ophthalmic eyewear, sunglasses and other niche optical products to various US Government agencies.
In the '90s RE expanded its product range to include commercial lines and is now well established in the designer sunglasses industry. Staying close to their founding principals of high quality design and engineering, Randolph Engineering employ some of the best engineers in the aviation industry at the Massachusetts HQ where all their sunglasses are still made. Every single pair of sunglasses must pass through more then 200 production stage, often carried by hand, so you can be sure they are of the highest quality build and finish – from the non-slip silicone nose pads to the scratch resistant and UV protecting lenses.
Unsurprisingly, Randolph Engineering sunglasses are great for driving and outdoor enthusiasts, but they are also great for those who simply appreciate high quality design and engineering. Our range of Randolph Engineering sunglasses includes classic Randolph Engineering aviator sunglasses, so you can get the F18 fighter pilot look this season.
