The Red Hot Sunglasses Guide to the Burberry Brand

Founded by Thomas Burberry way back in 1856, Burberry has grown in to one of the world’s leading fashion houses. The brand first found fame by creating clothing for explorers during the golden age of arctic exploration – such was the quality of the materials used. Burberry also created one of the most iconic items of clothing of all time when they were commissioned to make trench coats that were practical for officers during WW1. The trench coat displays Burberry’s commitment to tradition, as the design today is exactly the same – epaulettes and gun flap included.

In the 1960’s, the brand changed it’s name from ‘Burberry and Sons’ to simply ‘Burberry’. It was also at this time that the brand developed the double-check patterns and knight logo that have since become synonymous with the brand and remain popular today. The brand gained further notoriety in the early noughties with its iconic Nova Check print, which is seeing something of a revival at the present.

These iconic trademarks have now been incorporated into the Burberry sunglasses range, which first launched in 2006. The latest range includes a diverse selection of frame types and colours, all the time staying loyal to Thomas Burberry’s initial desire for elegance and fashion-forward styling.
