Valentino have teamed up with Luxottica group to launch the first eyewear collection under the license agreement they signed last year. Following their celebratory launch event last month, ‘Valentino Mirage’, the new collection has taken the market by storm, showcasing a harmonious blend of the luxury Italian style of Valentino and the sunglasses expertise of Luxottica.
Valentino Garavani’s fashion career began at a young age as an apprentice for designers and in training at the École des Beaux-Arts and the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. In Rome, 1959, Valentino launched his own fashion house and it only took a couple of years before he was an international star. The brand was famous for its haute couture, glamorous red dresses and ultra-feminine style. Women all over the world desired to be dressed in Valentino and they have designed the wedding dresses of many of the elite women. Elizabeth Taylor, Anne Hathaway and Courtney Cox are to name a few.
Valentino Garavani, after a long and successful career at the head of his self-made empire, announced he was retiring in 2007. The brand was newly headed by Maria Grazia Chiuri (who left last year), and Pierpaolo Picciolo who both worked to maintain the glamour and elegance of Valentino whilst also modernising its creations.
Last summer Luxottica and Valentino announced their exclusive 10-year eyewear license agreement for the design, manufacture and worldwide distribution of Valentino eyewear.

A blend of sensual and punk metal designs, metal, crystals and nylon and the high quality of craftsmanship promised through the collaboration with Luxottica. The keyhole double lens sunglasses in transparent green display a unique lens-on-lens construction as well as a double bridge which creates a ultra-modern and elegant look. The splash of red is emblematic of the striking, bold red of Valentino we all know and love.
Another fabulously feminine pair of sunglasses. The class cateye frame is sleek, and an added touch of glamour comes from the glitter detail at the corners. A signature touch is added to the temples in a striking gold which contrasts beautifully with the bold thick black frames.
These aviator metal sunglasses feature in a contemporary design with the added luxury sparkle of the Swarovski crystals on the lower bridge. The sunglasses are finished off with 3D temple studs and the iconic logo on the arm. The matte gold and crystal detail create an essence of glamour and bold femininity.
