Brand in the Spotlight – YSL
YSL started the New Year with a bang, and the luxury brand have continued to prove why they are fashion royalty since. Red Hot has brand new YSL stock on site and each piece emulates their iconic Parisian glamour.
Welcoming the New Year, YSL posted a spectacular video of models dancing the night away on an illuminated rooftop. The models include: Raquel Zimmermann; Anja Rubik; Hiandra Martinez; Adut Akech; Maria Miguel; and Cara Taylor, and they are styled like time-travellers from the 80’s.The scene is set to a soundtrack of New Order’s “Blue Monday”, with a backdrop a shimmering cityscape. Anthony Varacello, YSL’s Creative Director, designed the 80’s style garments with billowing feathered dress, tar-coloured blazers with sequins, and striking power shoulder details. His vision for the video was directed by Inez and Vinoodh, the Dutch photography duo who have shot for YSL for years. The irresistible glamour has us itching for a night out in YSL style.
In other YSL news, on 17th January in Paris, the fashion house opened the brand new YSL Beauty Hotel: a pop-up in the Eighth Arrondissement to fulfil your every beauty desire. Beauty brand ambassador Zoë Kravitz hosted the opening, which consists of the hotel containing a beauty bar, nightclub, and a beauty room service. It will be open 10-10 for four days only. Star guests included Diane Kruger, Courtney Love and Presley Gerber, who all checked into the hotel and meandered through the sprawling three-levels with stalls and makeup stations in Vintage BMWs. Down in the Black Opium club, DJs Simi & Haze and Sebastian spun tracks and later Hyphen Hyphen filled the room with their electro-pop until the early hours. Up to 1,500 people are said to have visited the hotel, include members of the public, to explore the new YSL products in complete luxury.
YSL didn’t stop there: YSL Beauty have just announced recording artist Halsey as their new face. Halsey shot to stardom after her collaboration with The Chainsmokers two summers ago and her outspoken character, in everyday life and in her music, is enchanting.
