Why Children’s Sunglasses are Important

Yes, another thing to add to the endless list of stuff to remember when going on holiday. A weekend away? A trip down to the beach? Maybe just in the garden? But there is good reason to invest in some decent sunglasses for the sproglets this summer.

Experts say that getting your children to protect their eyes from the sun should be equally important as applying sunscreen, so why don’t we do it?
A study by VSP states “we recently surveyed about 2,000 U.S. adults. And we learned that a healthy 82% of parents make their children wear sunscreen while outdoors in the sun. But a not-so-healthy 32% outfit their kids with sunglasses.” So… time to do something about it!

What should you look out for? Well firstly, make sure the sunglasses come with that all important UV protection. Avoid purchasing any ‘toy’ sunglasses i.e. Princess Elsa sunglasses bought from the souvenir shop.
Allaboutvision.com states that “Children’s eyes are more susceptible to UV and HEV radiation than adult eyes because the lens inside a child’s eye is less capable of filtering these high-energy rays. This is especially true for young children, so it’s wise for kids to start wearing protective sunglasses outdoors as early in life as possible.”
Luckily for you, we have a pretty sweet range of kid’s sunglasses. All with Total UV Protection. And all super stylish and fun.
