American designer Tom Ford has had a whirlwind influence on the fashion industry in his relatively short career, working for some of the most prestigious fashion brands during his career before eventually launching his own, self-titled brand to critical acclaim. 
 
 
Born in Texas, the bright lights of New York City soon attracted him and it wasn’t long before he was a regular on the NYC party scene, becoming a regular at the infamous Studio 54 club. It was at this time that Ford realised his love of fashion and, after interning at Chloe and working for a number of other prestigious brands, got his big break after being hired by Gucci. An old Italian fashion house on the brink of bankruptcy, Gucci needed all the help they can get. Not only did Ford save them from bankruptcy, he transformed the company’s fortunes, turning them in to the fashion goliath we recognise today.
 
 
His reputation secured, Ford left Gucci to develop his own brand in 2004. Eyewear was a key component of his product range, including a fantastic choice of designer sunglasses. Ranges often include a mix of 70’s / Studio 54 inspired retro styling as well as a number of contemporary styles inspired by Ford’s love of architecture. While it is near impossible to predict what striking and original designs Ford will design next, all his sunglasses are resplendent with an almost impossible luxury and instantly recognisable no matter what style you choose.
